ABOUT US

Willow Nook Farm includes 107 diverse acres of property: About 44 farmed acres of field, 30 acres of bush, some pasture land, the Nith River flowing through the back of the property, and a winding creek running up the side.

Our B&B is located outside Wellesley, Ontario and operated by Marcus and Julie Wagler. In 2022 we purchased the farm and moved into our custom built home in September 2023. We designed our home to have a “granny suite” for our future retirement and designed our home with aging and accessibility in mind. Since we are not yet retired, we decided to share our home and our property with guests like you!

The name Willow Nook is part of our family heritages- Julie’s Great Grandfather had a herd of Holstein cattle registered under the farm name, and Julie’s Grandmother started a food truck business under the same name many moons ago, before food trucks were popular! “Nook” also gives a nod to Marcus’ family heritage and their 3 generation dairy operation Claynook Farms!

Marcus recently transitioned out of ownership at Claynook where they are passionate about improving the Holstein breed through genetic selection. To date they have earned 2 Master Breeder Shields for industry-leading genetics. He enjoys using that knowledge and experience in his cropping, breeding and raising beef cattle. There are many farming dreams pending, we just have to decide which ones to implement first!

Julie earned her Kinesiology degree and worked for over 10 years in physiotherapy but “retired” after they started welcoming foster children into their home. She has always been a country girl at heart and has enjoyed designing and landscaping their home and entertaining guests. She also has dreams of riding her horses through the bush and off into the sunset, but alas, that is another future dream that will have to wait…

Their son, Caleb recently graduated as a mechanical engineer, working in agricultural design. He has many farming and fixit projects going on the side, many of which are ideas fuelled by his grandfathers!

It is our hope that you love our property as much as we do and feel welcome to come relax, explore and enjoy the peaceful surroundings!

FARM PETS

You will notice many friendly outdoor/garage cats roaming the property- they are our fully vaccinated guard cats! They keep us safe from rodents, birds and snakes!

We also have a large house dog on the property. He looks and sounds intimidating, but is friendly. Abner does not roam the property alone- if he is outside, he is on leash or is wearing an e-collar supervised by a family member. We realize that large dogs are not for everyone, so if you prefer not to interact with Abner, just let us know and we will do our best to let him out when you are away or inside.
